Odanadi Seva Trust

Odanadi Seva Samsthe (or Odanadi Seva Trust) is a social organization based in Mysore (South India), which has been working for the Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Empowerment of trafficked women and children. Currently, they take care of 69 rescued children with the intention of protecting them from the clutches of the sextrade. Mainly girls do stay at Odanadi, but also a few boys. Odanadi endeavor to provide a decent dignified childhood to these marginalized children. So far, Odanadi has organized and undertaken 20 rescue-operations. Over 400 girls (also some boys) in and out of Karnataka state have been rescued, and the perpetrators of this traffic have been brought to book.
The activities of Odanadi have been recognized by the state and the central governments. The Government of Karnataka has allotted two plots of land in Mysore for the rehabilitation of prostituted women and children. Other state governments (Maharastra, Delhi, West Bengal) have been sending rescued girls to Odanadi, to facilitate their rehabilitation. Apart from this, Odanadi is often consulted at the national level on its approach to tackling this social problem.
